The Legend of Korra – Mighty Avatar

The Legend of Korra is an action beat ‘em up game set in the same universe as the TV show of the same name and Avatar: The Last Airbender. I have never seen the TV show that the game is based on but I have seen Avatar: The Last Airbender so I am somewhat familiar with the lore of the game. You play as Korra an Avatar who can control all four elements. Read more…

Darkest Dungeon – Underworld Dwellers

Darkest dungeon logo

Darkest Dungeon is an unforgiving RNG-based Dungeon Crawler that is currently in Early Access. In Darkest Dungeon you assemble a team of ‘heroes’ to try and restore your ancestral estate to its former glory. While travelling through dungeons you not only fight the monsters that lurk there but also stress which can be even more deadly at times. Read more…

Intrusion 2 – Game review by rgk

Intrusion 2 Logo

Intrusion 2 is a modern take on Contra/Metal Slug. And when I say modern, it is not an empty word! However, let’s start with what is familiar: Intrusion 2 is a 2D side-scroller with action and platforming, shooting soldiers and robots while occasionally negotiating some jumps. A lot of games have tried to ape the aforementioned classical games. Read more…

Blood of the werewolf Logo

Become Selena, loving mother, devoted wife and powerful werewolf. Take revenge on the monsters that have slain your husband and stolen your child, in this love letter to classic platformers. Seamlessly transform from human to werewolf in light of the moon, as you shoot, slash and smash your way to fight Frankenstein. Read more…

Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number – Bloodbath

Hotline Miami 2

Hotline Miami 2 is closer to the last levels of the first game (Biker) than the rest of Hotline Miami (Jacket and all his masks), and thus feels like a direct continuation rather than just a new coat of paint. This opinion might seem a bit obtuse now, but I will explain later on why it is an important distinction. So, why is it a continuation rather than a new take? Read more…

Unholy Heights – Cartoon Madness

Unholy Heights Logo

Unholy Heights puts a new twist on the Tower Defense genre. Play as an apartment manager (The Devil) and experience what’s it like to manage an apartment complex full of monsters. I had a lot of fun building up my apartment. As my tenement grew, more monsters moved in, each with different stats, jobs, likes, and dislikes. I had to keep my tenants happy by fulfilling their special needs and buying them furniture. Read more…

Transistor – Game review by Zephyr

Transistor is a brilliant 2D sci-fi action-indie RPG, brought to us by Supergiant games – as most of us know, are the creators of Bastion. While Transistor doesn’t exactly play like Bastion, I’ve still enjoyed my time with it. The hand-drawn visuals are fantastic and oozes style. Darren Korb composed the soundtrack and it’s a delightful treat for the ears. Read more…
